An option for replacing missing teeth

An implant is placed in the jaw to support a crown, bridge, or denture. The implant, connecting component, and visible restoration are different parts with different maintenance needs.

Is an implant suitable?

Assessment includes gum health, bone anatomy, medical history, smoking, diabetes control, medication exposure, and cleaning ability. Existing teeth should be assessed for reasonable preservation before extraction is proposed.

Plan the tooth position first

The desired restoration guides implant planning. Space, bite, smile line, and access for cleaning matter alongside available bone. Some people need preparatory treatment or grafting; others may be better served by a bridge or removable denture.

Understand the stages

Planning, placement, healing, and restoration are separate stages. Immediate placement after extraction and immediate loading with a restoration are different decisions. Neither is suitable for everyone.

Risks and follow-up

Possible problems include failure to integrate, infection, nerve or sinus injury, gum recession, and technical complications. Follow-up and home cleaning remain essential after successful healing.

Request an assessment to compare the options for your missing tooth or teeth.
