Guided implant surgery uses digital planning and a guide or navigation system to help transfer planned implant positions to the patient.
Begin with the intended teeth
Planning considers the final restoration, available bone, nearby anatomy, gum conditions, and access for cleaning. A guide is one part of this process, not the diagnosis itself.
Accuracy is not absolute
Errors can arise from imaging, record alignment, guide fabrication, seating, movement, and surgical access. The surgeon must verify fit and retain appropriate safety allowances and a contingency plan.
Is it always flapless or immediate?
No. A guided procedure may still need a gum flap or bone grafting. Whether a restoration can be fitted immediately depends on separate clinical criteria.
