Protect the tooth between visits
A temporary seal is not the same as a definitive restoration. Avoid hard chewing on the treated tooth until your dentist confirms the appropriate final restoration is in place.
Some tenderness can occur
The surrounding tissues may remain tender after treatment. Follow the agreed pain-relief plan and seek advice if pain is severe, increasing, or persists beyond what your clinician described.
Arrange the final restoration
A well-sealed, appropriately supported restoration helps protect the tooth. The amount of remaining structure determines whether a filling, onlay, or crown is appropriate.
Call for review if
The temporary filling is lost, the bite feels high, swelling develops, or the tooth breaks. Do not assume recurrent symptoms mean extraction is the only option; reassessment may identify other treatment choices.
For spreading swelling or difficulty breathing or swallowing, seek urgent emergency care.
